Red River Meet Up

Red River Meet Up. Camping, and Sandbar Flying.
Event begins at the Airplanes and Coffee fly in event at KGLE in the morning. Then we will fly out to a nearby location to setup base camp. From there, pilots are invited to join other experienced pilots who fly the river regularly for flights out and onto the large beautiful Red River sandbars in the area. There are DOZENS of large excellent sandbars within a close distance to our camping site.
Note pilots who are unfamiliar with flying off airport but are properly equipped, are welcome to join. Tires larger than 8.50-6 are typically needed for most airplanes on the soft beach style sand of the Res River. 26” and bigger is preferred u less your airplane is VERY lightweight. Many of the sand bars here are very long, 500-1500’+, and is well suited for properly prepared first time flyers. A group of experienced locals will be available at KGLE to verify newcomers airplanes are capable if needed. We will also be happy to share and discuss techniques and safety items related to off airport and river flying.
