Attendees will be able to watch the airplanes land and take off while eating breakfast. A wide variety of aircraft is expected\, including antiques\, military\, biplanes and bush planes. Guests may walk along our grass runway\, get a close look at the parked airplanes and talk to the pilots. DESCRIPTION:Fly-In alert: June 13-15 at 3JC (Junction City\, KS). We will have a unique STOL Competition\, fly out to the sandbars\, camp\, cookout and hangout.\nSandbar STOL: This will be done on a grass runway at the airport\, not an actual sandbar. You will predict your takeoff and landing distance before you fly. The pilot who gets closest to their predicted distance without going over wins. Practice at home because you only get one chance\, similar to landing on a sandbar. You can’t go long on a sandbar without going into the river! This will be on Saturday June 14.\nJust about any airplane can be competitive in this type of event. You don’t have to have the best stol plane. Your distance can be really short or really long. It is about knowing your performance and then nailing it.\nCamping allowed at the airport. There are hotels available as well. We will figure out food as we get closer but I’m sure no one will have to go without. Spread the word!
