SUMMARY:13th Annual My Place Fly-in (3OH7)
DESCRIPTION:Rain or shine\, join us for a fun filled day on the farm; airplanes\, great food (our emphasis is on quality) and entertainment for all ages. Unless you are a pilot flying in please bring a side dish which will be shared when lunch is served.\n\n\nWe are only four weeks away from the annual “My Place” fly in; “Always the second Sunday in October”. This year we are planning an even better breakfast and lunch. Joe and Lynn want to make sure that each breakfast is prepared to order\, therefore\, we will be in the kitchen cooking and greeting our guests. We’ll be serving thick cut bacon\, Joe’s extra special French toast\, Delmar’s homemade wood fired oven biscuits and homemade sausage gravy\, farm fresh sausage\, eggs to order\, Gary’s Yukon Gold home fried potatoes with or without onions. Our French toast and pancakes with fresh blueberries and pecans (or chocolate chips and sprinkles for the young and young at heart) will be served hot off the griddle. A two-gallon syrup warmer/dispenser will ensure that your pan cakes and French toast receive the hot syrup that they deserve. It may require a short wait in line\, but we encourage you to find someone that you don’t know and talk to them. Our emphasis is on quality\, not speed.\n\n\nThis year for lunch we are serving hamburgers made with locally raised fresh ground beef from Hoffman’s Custom Meats in Cardington. Ken and Jeanine Vaughn’s famous chili will also be served. Top it all off with some of the many side dishes that each of you bring. Beginning late morning we will serve ice cream at the pond area near the kid’s activities–kids first please. Last year we served 900 meals and expect a larger number this year. We’re not as big as the Morrow County or Ohio State Fair yet but with your help we have potential. Donations will be gladly accepted to help support the cost of food for our growing event.\n\n\nWHILE YOU’RE HERE:\nVisit our local artisans\, wood carvings\, hot air engine\, kid’s activities and lots of airplanes\, antique cars and tractors (look but please do not touch the airplanes\, tractors\, classic and antique cars.\n\n\nCHANGES:\nIn the interest of safety\, we are moving some of the activities and serving line away from the front (southwest end) of the main hangar and to the back side (northeast) of the hangar and away from the approach end of runway 06. Additionally\, we have installed a pedestrian bridge from the parking area that will keep foot traffic away from the approach end of runway 6 and avoid inbound cars coming into the car park. If you don’t use the shuttle\, please use the new bridge if walking to/from the hangar.\n\n\nThree new restrooms have been added to the end of the newly constructed hangars in that area. The white doors are regular rest rooms. The gray door is a family-friendly restroom with a kid size and adult toilet along with a baby changing station.\n\n\nA new mobile coffee service has been added to ensure that you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee while you wait in line to reach the serving area. Our emphasis is on quality\, not speed\n\n\nSIDE DISHES:\nA drop off area has been established in the hangar\, and our volunteers will be there to take (and serve) your side dishes\, deserts\, pop or bottled water. We’ll have stations to accommodate both hot (crock pots) and cold side dishes including limited oven space for those sides dishes that need to be reheated.\n\n\nSAFETY:\nPILOTS: The runway (06/24) is 2100 feet long with 600 feet of clear way from the tree line at the northeast end. The power lines have been buried along Coleman Road (Township 152) at the southwest end of the runway. A new\, larger windsock has been placed mid field.\n\n\nThe field elevation is 1000 feet ASL. Traffic pattern altitude is 1000 feet AGL for fixed wing and 500 feet AGL for helicopters.\n\n\nThe CTAF will be 122.90 for the fly-in in accordance with the AIM\, 4-1-9 “Where there is no tower\, FSS\, or UNICOM station on the airport\, use MULTICOM frequency 122.9 for self-announce procedures.”\n\n\nFly a standard left hand traffic pattern for both 6 and 24. Be advised that helicopters may be operating to and from an area on the north side of the runway near the pond. Transient helicopters should also park in the area north of the runway.\n\n\nAircraft “FOLLOW ME” vehicles will be directing parking during the busy early morning hours.\n\n\nGUEST SAFETY AND TRANSPORTATION:\nThere is a designated runway crossing area for pedestrians near the hangar. Crossing guards will be stationed on each side of the crossing area to assist with safe runway crossings. Additionally\, this year we are going to provide a continuous shuttle service from the car parking area (including handicap assistance) to the hangar and kids’ area activities.\n\n\nKIDS ACTIVITIES:\nPumpkin painting (take home your painted prize pumpkin)\, milking cow trainer\, train rides\, hayrides\, corn pit\, face painting\, swings\, slides\, petting zoo and ice cream.\n\n\nCAR AND PHONE NAVIGATION SYSTEMS:\nIf you are driving to the fly in use this address for your phone\, tablet or car nav system:\n3177 Coleman Road\nCardington OH 43315\nUnited States\n\n\n‘Look for the fly in signs at the corner of Township Road 152 (Coleman Road) and Route 42.\n\n\nIf you are driving in from the south; from the only stoplight in Ashley\, Ohio proceed exactly 4.7 miles north on Route 42 then turn left on Township Road 152 and continue for 1/2 mile to the fly in.\n\n\nIf you are driving in from the north; from the stoplight in Cardington\, Ohio proceed south on Route 42 for 3 miles and turn right on Township Road 152 and continue for 1/2 mile to the fly in.\n\n\nPARKING AND TRANSPORTATION:\nAll parking (except Corvettes and antiques) will be on the west side of Coleman Road (near the yellow wind tee). This is a change from years past. The parking crew will direct you to\nparking. Transportation will be provided continuously from parking to the hangar using our new handicap accessible people mover\, antique Model A truck\, Polaris run-about and maybe a golf cart or two. Antique and classic cars will be parked on the (northeast) end of the hangar. Handicap parking will be provided near the hangar.\n\n\nYou’re in our data base so look for updates by email and Facebook (My Place 3OH7). That’s 3OH (as in Ohio)7 which is the four-letter aviation identifier for the My Place airfield. Lots of airplanes\, helicopters\, people and good food\, kid’s activities and family-friendly fun in a rural setting. Just a fun way for us to give something back to aviation\, friends and neighbors.\n\n\n‘Hope to see you on Sunday\, October 12th\,\n\n\nJoe and Lynn\n\n\nP.S. IF YOU DRIVE IN\, PLEASE BRING A SIDE DISH!
