WWII Style Hangar Dance & Annual Fly-In (34R)

October 30 @ 9:00 amOctober 31 @ 3:00 pm

Airplane Rides!!

Our fly-in  (and museum, for that matter), is different than most. We love all the airplanes flying in, but we absolutely LOVE having our local citizens come out and enjoy the activities. It’s just not right to host an event like this without offering the folks a way to get a little air under their feet, so this year we’ve partnered with Vintage Air Tours to provide “Old Timey” airplane rides in their beautiful Stearman and Navion on Oct 31st and Nov. 1st.  These guys are  super professional and are all about giving rides and having fun! It’s what they do at their home field in Rockport, and their beautiful aircraft just ooze history. Take a peek at their website by clicking the link below. They’re also taking advance bookings for flights through the links below. I promise you’ll love the flight, and we’re super excited to have them join us this year!!

Check out their website, see the event on facebook, or use the button below to book a flight.

About the dance: Well, to be honest, the night before the fly-in we’re here, up all night manning (and  Ladying??… doesnt sound right) the BBQ pits. So, in that light we sortof thought “hmmm, lets have something going on in the hangar for the early birds to enjoy”. The main hangar is cleand out anyway, lets put on some old time WWII planes & music together and have a little fun. We’ve got a couple of hotels in town folks seem to like, and I’ll update this with a B&B list as soon as I have one compiled. It also is worth mentioning some folks camp and bring RV’s (the big camper kind), and thats always fine with us. Music… well, we’re looking for a period correct band but they just dont grow on trees. We might just go recorded, but you never know. Anyway, bring your sweetie and plan on shaking a leg in the hangar on Halloween night!

About the Fly In: Why change a good thing? It’s pretty much the same as every year – Old School Cool Planes, Pilots & Cars, Mouth watering BBQ, Hit and Miss Ice Cream, (Come hungry) and good old family friendly fun. The High School Students will be out in force and will be really proud to answer questions about the Piper J3 Cub they’re rebuilding. We’ll have the old veterans from our retirement home again, as always. A new plan for this year is hitching our old tractor to a hay ride wagon and carrying folks around to see the airplanes, so if you wind up parking down the runway a bit, no worries, we got you covered!
